5th Hyde Scout Group

About Us

5th Hyde consists of Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers.  The Group is a friendly group that meets at Hyde Central Methodist Church, Crook Street, Hyde and provides Scouting mainly in the area of Hyde, Newton, Godley and Gee Cross, Tameside.  We have four sections – Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers and provide a wide range of activities at our weekly meetings for boys and girls. Although we meet at a Church, we are an ‘open group’ and accept children from all faiths. 5th Hyde Scout Group is in the Scout District of Tameside South, in the Scout County of Greater Manchester East.

We are the UK's biggest mixed youth organisation. We change lives by offering 6 to 25 year olds fun and challenging activities, unique experiences, everyday adventure and the chance to help others so that we make a positive impact in communities. Scouts help children and young adults reach their full potential. Scouts develop skills including teamwork, time management, leadership, initiative, planning, communication, self-motivation, cultural awareness and commitment. We help young people to get jobs, save lives and even change the world.
