Tameside high achievers shown route to top career
Date published: 06 July 2010
High achieving school leavers will get the chance to learn about landing a top career in engineering through a dedicated open evening for this industry at Tameside College this month.
The event on 14 July is aimed at successful students looking for an alternative to university or college. It will explain how to enter the engineering profession through the Guaranteed Apprenticeship Scheme run in conjunction with Skills Solutions. The great advantage of the scheme is that apprentices are paid from day one.
Students will be able to speak to tutors at the college and find out more about the course and the support available. Entrants to the course should have or be predicted to get five GCSEs A-C including Maths, English and Science, must be enthusiatic and highly motivated to succeed as the successful candidates will be expected to progress on to advanced apprenticeships. In a move that shows real commitment to investing in the talent of the future. Apprentices on these programmes will receive £95 per week from day one of their apprenticeship training while they are at the college.
The opening evening will be held at Tameside College’s Beaufort Campus in Ashton on July 14 from 6 - 8pm. For further information contact Skills Solutions on 0161 233 2656 or email recruitment@skills-solutions.org.uk
