Hyde to celebrate 125th Anniversary with name change
Date published: 09 June 2010
Hyde United FC are delighted to announce a new initiative to coincide with the Club’s celebration of our 125-year anniversary.
The Club have confirmed they have made an application to revert their name to Hyde FC, the Club’s original name back in 1885. Whilst the Club is still awaiting ratification of the request from the Football Association, they hope to have their decision in July, ahead of the start of the new Blue Square Bet North campaign.
There is also a plan to incorporate the Club’s original colours of black and white in the new 2010/2011 playing strip, which will be launched in advance of the new season.
Hyde United Chairman, Steve Hartley, said: “This season promises to be an exciting one for all of us. We want to celebrate our 125th Anniversary in style. The decision to revert our name back to Hyde will give us the chance to reflect on the year of our original formation in 1885.
“There is a fantastic history associated with football in Hyde, and I’m sure our fans will be excited at some of the plans we have in place to help them celebrate our Anniversary at Ewen Fields.”
There are a number of developments in the pipeline which will be revealed over the next few weeks. Supporters will begin to notice a significant number of improvements and uplift of facilities at Ewen Fields in time for next season.
