Allingham Bags the Points
Date published: 17 May 2010
Stalybridge Rally Driver Alex Allingham and co-driver Mark Glennerster from Swindon endured a challenging day in Wales on Saturday at the BTRDA SJR Plains Rally.
The Team Struggled for pace over the early stages after coming to terms with role they endured on the recent Pirelli rally in Keilder forest.
Allingham battled all day and was rewarded with 3rd place in the Hankook Welsh National Championship. The SJR Plains Rally started in Welshpool with the crews heading in to famous Dyfi forest complex with a short run through Hafren forest before a final stage blast through the infamous Wood yard stage. Alex and Glen struggled with their pace on the first set of stages after Alex's recent roll on the Pirelli, with the car fully rebuilt and Alex’s confidence improving throughout the day they managed to set top 10 stage times throughout the day.
The pair finished 4th in GpN and a fantastic 8th Overall after the drama of a cracked brake disc on the penultimate stage of the day.
Alex was upbeat at the finish commenting "We were off the pace a little this morning, my confidence was still dented from the Pirelli accident, but we had a real push on Hafren where the Hankook tyres and Mark's pace note’s were just fantastic, that stage was the highlight of my day. I’d would like to thank my sponsors, mccrash.co.uk, Workwear4you, Racebits.co.uk, Broken Pencil.co.uk and Richard Allingham Cars for their support”
