Stalybridge Celtic

Date published: 03 January 2010

It has been a frustrating festive period for Celtic.

We should have played Hyde twice and Southport.

We kind of played Southport, however after a game that saw Southport have two close efforts in the first half, and Celtic two in the second half, the game could have gone either way, but looked, as Southport tired, like it might just swing Celtic’s way, when the lights went out.

After a great deal of deliberation, the league has decided to declare the game null and void, and it will now be played on the 16 March. The Hyde game that should have taken place New Year’s Day, will now take place on the 9 March. Both with 7:45pm kick offs.
With the weather still having an impact, Celtic’s game against Hyde at Ewen Fields is still in doubt, with a pitch inspection being held on the Sunday, over twenty-four hours prior to kick off. It must be the distance we have to travel to get there.

The last league game Celtic had was back at the start of December, where we had two league games in a week, having had none for a month, this pattern looks set to repeat, next Saturday being a Trophy game against a team one point and one place above us in the table, Corby. This is a game we need to win to get the finances moving again!
