Official opening of Hyde Leisure Pool

Date published: 04/12/2009

A bit of winter sun is not as far away as it seems thanks to the re-opening of Hyde Leisure Pool!

The centre’s £1.9million upgrade will be officially opened next Monday (7 December) after a ten month closure.

This opening is the last in the line of Tameside's £8million refurbishment programme, which has seen various centres across the borough upgraded through a partnership between Tameside Council and Tameside Sports Trust.

And whilst sunny weather outside cannot be guaranteed, people can be assured of a warm and sunny welcome at the fully renovated centre.

Visitors can ride the waves, brave the wide water channels and try out the brand new red ‘ripster’ aqua slide all under one roof at the leisure centre on Walker Lane in Hyde.

Originally built in June 1988, the Tameside Sports Trust managed centre was in need of various upgrades and extensive repairs to the roof.

The centre now boasts; a new entrance, fitness suite, dance studio, health suite, café, new changing village and the all-new aqua slide.

A range of activities are available at the centre, workout classes, family swim, slide and waves sessions, wally walrus sessions, cheerleading and streetdance, fitness programmes, and casual swimming sessions.
