Tameside Horticultural Show

Date published: 30 August 2010

Magnificent marrows, spectacular Victoria sponges and fantastic photographs are just some of the handiwork that will be on display for next weekend’s Tameside Horticultural Show.

But it’s not just for gardeners as there are classes for vegetables and a wide variety of flowers as well as photography, art, handicrafts and bakery. There are specific classes for children, but they can also enter any of the general classes.

The free show comes from Tameside in Bloom and takes place the weekend of 4 -5 September at Stalybridge Civic Hall, Trinity Street, Stalybridge.

Cllr Jackie Lane, Assistant Executive Member for Heritage and Tourism said:” This will be a great weekend in Tameside. The show gives people the opportunity to show the wealth of horticultural and creative talent that there is in the borough. If you're not entering, the show is also open to the public so you can see all the hard work that’s gone into the exhibits."

The deadline for entries is 3pm, Thursday 2 September. You can get full details of the show by contacting Jessica Brooks on 0161 303 8547 or at jessica.brooks@tameside.gov.uk

The show will be open to the public from 2:30pm on Saturday 4 September and from 10am on Sunday 5 September. The prizes for the best exhibits will be awarded by the Civic Mayor Cllr Jean Brazil at 2pm on the Sunday.
