Step back in time at Stamford Park

Date published: 28 August 2010

Visitors to Stamford Park can take a trip down memory lane on (Sunday September 12).
Old postcards and photographs will help to bring memories and stories to life during a family-friendly walk, which forms part of a wide range of activities planned in Tameside for Heritage Weekend.

Participants will be able to find out how the Stalybridge park, has played a significant role in the lives of Tameside families since it was officially opened in 1873. The tour will also give an insight into its exciting future, including the ongoing £5m restoration being carried out thanks to Heritage Lottery Funding.

At the end of the heritage walk, children will be invited to make their own postcards of the park, which will be later displayed in the conservatory.

Chair of Stalybridge DA Cllr Eileen Shorrock said: “This is a great opportunity for people to find out more about the park, share their memories and get involved in its future.”

The walk will start at 2pm at the entrance at the corner of Astley Road and Stamford Street.
