Date set for Longdendale By-Election

A by-election will be held in Longdendale on Thursday (September 30) to fill the vacancy created by the death of Cllr Roy Oldham.

The deadline for the receipt of nominations from anyone wishing to stand as a candidate is Friday (September 3).

Anyone not already registered to vote who wishes to be placed on the register in time for this by-election or anyone wishing to apply for a postal vote must do so by 5pm on Wednesday (September 15).

Returning Officer Steven Pleasant said: "As always it is very important that people ensure they are registered to vote and take part in the democratic process. Polling stations will be open between 7am and 10pm on (September 30) and I would urge everyone who is eligible to vote in the Longdendale ward to do so."
