Dying Matters so let’s talk about it: Dying Matters week 15 - 22 March

Tameside Hospital joins the members of the Dying Matters Coalition for a week of action, to encourage people to talk about their wishes towards the end of their lives, including where they want to die and their funeral plans with friend’s family and loved ones.

The purpose of Dying Matters Awareness Week is to increase public awareness and raise the profile of death, dying and bereavement issues. Several regional and national events are taking place across the country during National Dying Matters Week. Locally there are a series of events taking place across Tameside and Glossop.

As a member of the Dying Matters Coalition Week, Tameside Hospital NHS Foundation Trust are staging two events to help raise awareness about the importance of talking about death dying and bereavement and information about resources available :

  • Wednesday 17 March 11am – 2pm outside Tameside Hospital restaurant (first floor of Hartshead building).
  • Thursday 18 March 11am – 3pm in the main entrance of the Hartshead building (patient information area).

Please come along and give us your support

Engaging local communities, raising the profile and generating new conversations are vitally important to bring about a much-needed transformation in public awareness in public attitudes towards dying death and bereavement.

The events will support and raise awareness to help deliver dignified arrangements for those affected.

“My loved ones know my wishes about organ and tissue donation.”
“I know who will look after the people I care for when I die.”
“I have got my funeral planned the way I want it.”
