Competition funds coffee morning in Denton
Date published: 18/02/2010
A raffle has proved to be just the ticket for raising funds for residents in Denton.
Thanks to the fundraiser run by Denton North East Neighbourhood Policing Team, residents can attend a coffee morning at Victoria Park Community Centre, Market Street, Denton, on Thursday 4 March at noon.
It is hoped the coffee morning will also help raise funds so that other community events can be arranged.
Future coffee mornings are planned as well as activities for younger people during the school holidays and volunteers who would like to help at these events are encouraged to contact the neighbourhood policing team.
Neighbourhood Officer PC Lisa Cameron said: “The neighbourhood policing team came up with the idea of running a raffle as a way to raise money for the community.
“We then approached several local businesses and they were generous enough to donate prizes.”
The top prize was a CCTV and alarm system installed into the winner’s home worth £200 by Hornet Alarms, Denton and other prizes included a voucher for Saheb Restaurant and deep fat fryers.
The raffle raised £120 and MP Andrew Gwynne drew the winning tickets on Friday 6 November 2009.
