Operation Admiral - Final Figures

The final total of arrests for Operation Admiral has risen to nearly 600.

Hundreds of homes across Greater Manchester were raided as part of the operation over the course of the last 24 hours.

During the raids, two blank-firing handguns were recovered, three cannabis farms have been discovered and £60,000 worth of Duty-Free goods stolen from airports have been found.

The arrest total has risen to 594 and 173 people have already been charged with various offences including burglary and robbery.

The breakdown of arrests across Greater Manchester is as follows, (please note, there was a slight discrepancy over the divisional figures issued earlier today. Below is the definitive breakdown.):

  • North Manchester - 66
  • Metropolitan - 47
  • South Manchester - 51
  • Salford - 52
  • Tameside - 28
  • Stockport - 25
  • Bolton - 89
  • Wigan - 34
  • Trafford - 45
  • Bury - 39
  • Rochdale - 41
  • Oldham - 69
  • Airport - 8

The breakdown of offence types is as follows (please note, some offenders were arrested in connection with more than one offence):

  • Burglary - 58
  • Robbery - 46
  • Theft - 110
  • Fraud - 5
  • Criminal damage - 35
  • Drug offences - 40
  • Sexual offences - 7
  • Violence against the person - 123
  • Other - 205

The breakdown of disposal so far is as follows:

  • Charged - 173
  • Cautioned - 15
  • Bailed pending further inquiries - 74

Total number of offenders brought into custody during the operation - 426. This equals the highest number of prisoners in any similar period in December.
