Police have released an image of a man they want to speak to in connection with an assault outside a bar in Stalybridge.
The attack happened outside the Ruby Rooms on Market Street at about 1.45am on Friday 23 October and left a man unconscious.
The victim, 21, walked out of the club and saw a disturbance. As he attempted to walk past it he was struck with a punch and was knocked to the floor unconscious.
Police are appealing for any witnesses, or anyone who recognises the man in the picture, to come forward.
Police Constable Mike Devine, Community Beat Manager for Stalybridge North Ward said: "This man was simply trying to walk home and keep out of the way when he was set upon in a completely unprovoked attack. He was knocked unconscious and was lucky he did not suffer more serious injuries.
"I would appeal to anyone who knows the man in the picture to speak to us, or if you do recognise yourself as this man then again, please call us.
"Town centre violence is completely unacceptable and it ruins it for the overwhelming majority of people who go out and enjoy themselves safely and responsibly. Greater Manchester Police works very closely with its partner agencies to ensure sensible drinking and reduce town centre violence.
"If you do have information that will help us, please come forward."
Anyone with information is asked to call Greater Manchester Police on 0161 872 5050 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
