Man charged following fatal collision

A man has been charged in connection with a collision that killed a man and left a woman seriously injured.

Stuart Halliday (born 28/8/89) of Tennyson Road, Droylsden has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

He is next due to appear at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing on 16 February 2010.

The charge relates to a collision on Green Lane in Failsworth shortly after 8.00pm on Friday 29 May 2009.

Roy Ashton, 46, from the Hyde area of Greater Manchester, died after his motorbike was in collision with a Volkswagen Polo

A 46-year-old woman involved in the collision remained in hospital for treatment for five months.
