Dovestones coffee morning raises funds for Macmillan Cancer Research
Date published: 03 November 2009
Students in Dovestones organised a coffee morning to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Research. The students sold filtered coffee, tea, juice, toast and crumpets to the customers.
Principal, Peter Ryder, who had coffee and toast, said: “The hot chocolate with all the trimmings looked great.”
The students also held a raffle with fabulous prizes, such as, a huge British bulldog, cosmetics, a designer handbag and lots of runner up prizes. In total £74.90 was raised for Macmillan Cancer Research.
The coffee morning proved to be a good practice session for the future Dovestones Café and highlighted the improvements the students could make to ensure smooth running of their service for the future.
The Dovestones Café will now be open on Friday mornings to staff, students and external visitors by arrangement.
