Fine for under-age sale

A shop assistant has been fined for selling cigarettes to a 14-year-old during a Tameside Trading Standards investigation.
Tameside magistrates heard on June 30 that Kathryn Barlow of Pelham Street, Ashton, made the under-age sale at Krishna News, Stockport Road, Ashton, on December 2 last year.
She was fined £350 and ordered to pay £450 costs and a £12 victim surcharge. The test purchase was part of a joint operation carried out with the police.
