Event: Tameside open brass band championships 2010

Tameside Council will once again be showcasing the best of brass, at this year’s Tameside Open Brass Band Championships.

The championships mark the start of 2010's contests and Tameside Council’s continued pledge to the development of brass band music, with another two events scheduled for later in the year.

The championships are set to attract approximately 30 bands from around the country including local bands; Denton, Ashton-under-Lyne, Mossley, Stalybridge and St. John’s Mossley. Each band will compete in one of four sections for total prize money of £4,600 and will play their own choice piece.

The first band, competing in the fourth section, will commence play at 9.30am with music continuing throughout the day until early evening.

This year’s two adjudicators have been announced as Thomas Wyss and Derek Broadbent.

Tameside will be staging two further contests later in the year; the British Open Solo & Quartet Championships on Sunday November 7 and the Tameside Youth Brass Festival on Sunday November 28, both of which will be held at Dukinfield Town Hall.
